Fergie impressed with ‘fantastic’ Owen after Man Utd brush aside Leeds

Michael Owen made his first start of the season for Manchester United in the Red Devils 3-0 win against Leeds at Elland Road last night, clinically scoring twice in the process, much to the delight and the striker’s manager Sir Alex Ferguson, the Guardian reports.

Two first half goals from Owen not only helped Ferguson’s side to a comfortable victory over their fierce Yorkshire rivals, but also took the former England Internationalist’s tally to 11 goals in 12 starts for United, a record which begun in October 2009.

This unquestionable evidence and latest illustration of his goal-scoring prowess is something which both pleases Ferguson and ironically makes him empathise with Owen at the same time. “Michael Owen’s finishing was fantastic.
