Gerrard targets Liverpool cup success

After making his comeback from an injury lay-off on Wednesday at Brighton, Steven Gerrard is already hungry for silverware after progressing into the fourth round of The League Cup.

Speaking after the game in midweek to Sky Sports, Gerrard talked of his desire for trophies, as well as playing first team football.

“We haven’t been to a major cup final for a long time. We have to take every cup seriously and when there’s no Europe that makes it easier to put strong sides out.” said Gerrard.

He went on to say “It’s behind me now and I’m looking forward to getting match fit and getting back in the starting line-up.” Although Gerrard only made a brief substitute appearance at the Amex Stadium on Wednesday, he may well be in contention for that place in the starting line-up for Saturday’s match against Wolves.
