Hughton gives Man City warning ahead of Birmingham clash

Carling Cup holders Birmingham City have assured their highflying opponents Manchester City that they should not be taken likely in tonight’s fixture at the Etihad stadium.

After being relegated from the top flight last season, a run in the Carling Cup would seem a lesser concern to that of their league campaign in the Championship, though manager Chris Hughton insists his side will not give up their title lightly; “Our main priority of course is the Championship and doing as well as we can in that, but we know what the cup competitions mean to the club and the supporters,” he told the Mail.

Only six of the 18-man squad survive from last season’s triumph over Arsenal though Hughton is confident his players are every bit as hungry to cause an upset.
