Iron rue Lillis loss and agree fee for Ryan

Scunthorpe United will be forced into an early foray into the loan market after goalkeeper Josh Lillis was ruled out for three months with ligament damage.

The stopper suffered the injury after colliding with Colchester United striker Steven Gillespie last weekend.

However the Iron have acted quickly to find a replacement and are expected to reveal the loan capture of Manchester United academy goalkeeper Sam Johnstone today.

The club themselves have stayed tight-lipped on the situation but the 18-year-old took to social networking site Twitter to reveal the news with the following tweet: “Three-month loan move to Scunthorpe United should do me the world of good. #EXCITED.”

Meanwhile a tribunal has ruled that the club could have to pay up to £195,000 for Jimmy Ryan.

The midfielder joined from Accrington Stanley this summer after his contract with the club expired.
