A disappointed Dirk Kuyt has spoken of his disappointment at no longer being an automatic starter for Kenny Dalgish’s new look Liverpool side, the Guardian
The Dutch striker has so far started only half of the Merseyside club’s six Premier League games this season, with new £20million summer signing Jordan Henderson taking his place on the right of midfield.
“I’m disappointed to be out of the team,” said Kuyt. “From childhood, I’ve always been disappointed when I’m not in the team because I’m desperate to be involved and make a good contribution.”
However, even though he’s no longer a regular fixture in the side, Kuyt sees his exclusion as a sign of how Liverpool have strengthened, compared to previous years.
“When I first arrived here we had a very good, big squad but for the last two seasons before this one, we haven’t had the depth that we did in the first three seasons.”
