Liverpool news – Dalglish to report ref, Downing: Reds deserved more, Suarez reveals Coates chat

Dalglish to report ref.

Kenny Dalglish will consult Liverpool’s owners before making an official complaint to the Professional Game Match Officials Limited.

The Reds manager was left furious with referee Mark Clattenburg and his overall performance after Liverpool suffered their first defeat of the season.

Dalglish told Sky Sports: “No one here wants to see this club suffer. I’m not taking anything away from Stoke City, but I think some of the decisions that were made today were hard to take.”

The outcome of the game left Reds boss Dalglish a frustrated figure, and he hinted he may not be able to abide by the Football Association’s ‘Respect the Referee’ campaign much longer if inconsistencies continue.

Downing: Reds deserved more.

Stewart Downing is adamant Liverpool deserved much more from yesterdays defeat to Stoke at the Britannia Stadium.

Taking to LFC TV Downing said: “I thought we played some decent football, we were unlucky and on another day we would have put our chances away, but it wasn’t to be.”

The Reds winger believed Liverpool controlled the match but couldn’t convert the chances that the team created. Downing added: “It was ‘one of those days’ and we couldn’t hit the net, but hopefully we’ll be able to do it at Tottenham next week. We’ve just got to keep doing the same things”.

Suarez reveals Coates chat.

Luis Suarez has lifted the lid on his conversations with Sebastian Coates prior to his fellow Uruguayan’s move to Liverpool.

Upon signing in at Anfield last month, Coates revealed how Suarezs love for the Reds helped convince him to make the switch to Merseyside.

Suarez explained to LFC TV: “The things I told him were about stuff behind the scenes at the club, he already knew about everything else.”

The Merseyside hit-man added: “Liverpool is one of the biggest and best clubs in Europe, and he knows that well enough himself.”

Suarez concluded: “He is coming to a team where he can really develop as an individual. He is still very young and has a lot to learn, but there are some highly-experienced players here who can help him a lot with that”.
