Man City news – Sneijder was an option, Hargreaves must build fitness, Tevez may stay

Hargreaves must build fitness.

Owen Hargreaves has admitted it may be a while until the City fans see him play for their club, reports The Telegraph. The former England international has been left out of manager Roberto Mancini’s 25-man Champions League squad, and has told fans he will need to return to ‘a rhythm of playing football.’ The defensive midfielder is thought to be at least six weeks away from challenging for a first team place, but having already won the Champions League with Bayern Munich and Manchester United, his experience in the knockout stages could prove vital should the Citizens qualify.

Sneijder was an option.

Kia Joorabchian, the agent of Carlos Tevez yesterday told journalists than Manchester City had made an enquiry to Italian club Inter Milan regarding a swap deal involving want-away striker Carlos Tevez, and Inter’s creative midfielder Wesley Sneijder, only to pull out of the deal after securing the services of Samir Nasri from Arsenal.  ‘I know that Inter were offered Sneijder in exchange for Carlos about a week or two weeks ago, but after they signed Nasri it was over,’ Joorabchian told Talksport.

Tevez may stay.

Manchester City’s unsettled striker Carlos Tevez could make an extraordinary U-turn, and stay in Manchester, if he can persuade his family to join him reports The Manchester Evening News. With fellow countryman Sergio Aguero joining the Citizens ranks, Tevez is hoping his wife Vanessa will be more open to settling in Cheshire, as she is thought to be friends with Aguero’s wife Giannini Maradona. Tevez will have to fight hard to win his place in the side back, after the blistering start to the season that the citizens have made.
