Michael Laudrup and Mallorca owner on collision course

Real Mallorca are trying to resolve a serious disagreement between Vice-President and majority shareholder Lorenzo Serra Ferrer and boss Michael Laudrup concerning the club’s transfer policy over the summer.

Laudrup has publicly criticised Ferrer’s buying strategy and failure to replace players, and was furious this week with what he described as “improvisation” on signings, after which Ferrer issued a statement saying the club must come before any personal interests. He also reminded Laudrup what a delicate economic situation Mallorca was in when he decided to take the reins just over 12 months ago.
