Modric poised to pen new Tottenham deal

Tottenham midfielder Luka Modric is ready to give up his dream move to Chelsea and sign a new contract at White Hart Lane according to the Metro. The Croatian international currently has five years left on his £60,000 deal but endured a difficult summer with speculation over a move almost continuous during the transfer window.

His relationship with Chairman Daniel Levy was pushed to breaking point at one stage and he even handed in a transfer request. However, his form has returned after a sluggish start to the season and manager Harry Redknapp has appealed to Levy to resolve a new contract at a time when Modric looks content to remain at the club.
