So far this season De Gea’s somewhat un-assured performances have done little to indicate United were justified in paying Atletico Madrid £18m for his services but Pallister is in little doubt that the U-21 Spanish Internationalist will prove his worth over time, through steady improvement of his physical condition.
“He looks a very slight lad, he may have to bulk up a little bit. But I think there is belief in the club he will stand in good stead and I think he believes in himself. I think he will be a success,” Pallister said of De Gea, who Sir Alex Ferguson is set to reinstate in goal for Sunday’s game against Chelsea, after fielding Anders Lindegaard in United’s midweek 1-1 draw with Benfica.
