Portsmouth bring in Fulham winger Bjorn Helge Riise on loan

Portsmouth have confirmed the signing of winger Bjorn Helge Riise on loan from Premier League side Fulham.

The Norwegian will remain with the south-coast club until the 7th November and is expected to be thrust into first-team action as soon as tomorrow when Pompey entertain Peterborough.

The 28-year-old has featured four times this season in the Europa League for the Whites but has found his first-team opportunities limited due to a recent groin injury and the arrivals of attacking outlets Pajtim Kasami and Bryan Ruiz towards the end of the summer transfer window.

Manager Steve Cotterill was impressed with Riise when he featured against them for Sheffield United in another loan spell last campaign and told the club’s official website he was pleased with the capture: “He’s energetic, a good footballer and has played 31 times for his country.

“We’ve got several midweek games and we may need to shuffle the pack so he will help us out.”
