Rayo Vallecano – Real Zaragoza: Hosts hoping for only their third victory over Aragonese side since 1993

Teresa Rivero, Madrid

Real Zaragoza will be desperate to kick-start their season at Rayo following the 6-0 home defeat by Real Madrid back on week one; however, the hosts proved in their first match back in La Liga that they are ready to fight to retain their top-flight status.

Rayo fought a spirited 1-1 draw at Athletic Bilbao and will be looking to build on that result with a positive performance against a Zaragoza side swamped with new faces. The hosts will hope to get Roberto Trashorras and Pedro Botelho on the ball as much as possible, whilst the Pablo Barrera-Efrain Juarez duo could be key for the visitors. The Mexican’s will be used to each other already and have the potential to really hurt Jose Casado down Rayo’s left.

Rayo (4-2-3-1): Cobeno; Tito, Arribas, Jordi, Casado; Movilla, Javi Fuego; Trashorras, Michel, Pedro Botelho; Piti

Zaragoza (4-2-3-1): Leo Franco; Juarez, Da Silva,Meira, Paredes; Micael, Ponzio; Barrera, Lafita, Juan Carlos; Postiga

League form:Rayo last five home W-L-L-W-L
Zaragoza last five away L-L-W-L-W

Did you know…Rayo have beaten Zaragoza just twice in the league since 1993.
