El Molinon, Gijon, Asturias
Sporting will be looking for their first points of the season against a Racing side that tend to travel poorly. The visitors are still without a win and will hope to capitalise on Sporting’s lack of firepower.
Having scored just two goals in four games, Sporting Gijon might have the beginnings of a striker problem. Striker David Barral could return to the first eleven after missing the Atletico Madrid game on Wednesday, but scoring is not their only problem, having also conceded nine goals. Coach Manolo Preciado said Atletico’s Falcao could have put six past his side midweek, so he will be looking for an improved performance.
Racing Santander come into this fixture in high spirits after their impressive 0-0 draw with Real Madrid on Wednesday. After a disappointing 4-0 defeat to Atletico last weekend, Hector Cuper will be pleased with how well his defence stopped Real creating. However, like Sporting, Racing are struggling to score and with only three goals in four games their forwards will start to feel the pressure.
