Ten-man Chelsea see of Swansea

Brendan Rodger’s return to Stamford Bridge was not a happy one, as goals from Fernando Torres, one in each half from Brazilian Ramires and an injury-time strike from Didier Drogba cancelled out Ashley Williams’ consolation. It was not all plain sailing for the Blues though as striker Torres continued his poor start in a Chelsea shirt by being dismissed for a late tackle on Mark Gower just ten minutes after scoring the opening goal.

Boss Andre Villas-Boas refused to give his opinion on the red card, merely stating that the referee’s decision is final. He was however very pleased with his team’s performance.

“With 10 men, we never lost our will to continue to attack and I think it paid off. It was an important win for us based on the last defeat at Old Trafford and showing resilience in the end again after Wednesday.”
