Torres ‘disappointed’ at red-card tackle against Swansea

Chelsea striker Fernando Torres has revealed his regret at the tackle that saw him sent off in the 39th minute against Swansea.

Torres had already put the Blues into the lead with a smart finish from Juan Mata’s through-ball, but then appeared to go two-footed into a tackle with Mark Gower.

Talking to Chelsea TV, Torres said: “Obviously, I didn’t want to do anything bad against the other player. I tried to take away my legs, but I arrived late to the ball and I kicked him a little bit. It’s a pity and I’m really disappointed for that.

“It is the first time I have received a red card in the Premier League and I hope it is the last one. It was really disappointing especially because the team had to play with 10 men for a long time.”
