Rafael Van der Vaart has spoken about after being left out of the Tottenham squad to play in the Europa Cup this season. Spurs did not include him in the squad for the initial group stage but can then add three more if they advance.
Speaking to The Sun the Dutchman said: “In England they are not interested in the Europa League – only the Premiership. But I would have loved to play in the Europa League. It would have helped me to regain some rhythm. I still think it’s a peculiar situation.”

Defoe: Modric must be professional.
Although the transfer window has closed Jermain Defoe believes the speculation linking Luka Modric with a move away from the club will not go away and will resurface in January.
In an interview with talkSPORT Defoe said: “There’s always speculation – its part and parcel of the game – and it will start again in January. He’s just got to be professional. You can’t go into games sulking because you’ll get found out and let the team down.”

New Tottenham number one goalkeeper Brad Friedel has insisted that the club can now focus on qualifying for next seasons Champions League now that Luka Modric has remained at the club.
It was a long summer for the club with almost daily conjecture on the future of the Croatian midfielder. Friedel, who arrived from Aston Villa this summer believes that with his team-mates now focused on their game the club can finish in the top four.
Speaking to Sky Sports Friedel declared: “Can we qualify for the Champions League? Absolutely!”
