Tottenham v Shamrock: Match preview and team news

Tottenham Hotspur welcome Shamrock Rovers to White Hart Lane in the second round of Europa League Group A matches.

Spurs kicked-off their European campaign with a 0-0 draw away to PAOK in Greece, a strong defensive performance from a youthful Tottenham side.

Shamrock Rovers meanwhile, were defeated 3-0 by Rubin Kazan, but come to Tottenham with a former Spur in Rohan Ricketts, who made 30 appearances for the club between 2002-05, and has since played for eight other clubs around Europe.

Ricketts is set to play after getting his first goal for the club in Sunday’s 5-2 win over Bray Wanderers. Tottenham are set to return to a mixture of reserves and youth players, as first-teamers are rested for the weekend’s north-London derby with Arsenal. Aaron Lennon is one big name set to start, as he begins regaining fitness after an ankle injury, and Jermain Defoe, who missed the weekend win over Wigan with illness, partners Pavlyuchenko up-front.

Line-ups (to be confirmed)

Tottenham (confirmed): Cudicini; Rose, Corluka, Bassong, Walker; Carroll, Livermore, dos Santos, Lennon; Pavlyuchenko, Defoe

Shamrock Rovers: Thompson; O’Donnell, Rice, Murray, Sullivan; Sives, Stevens, Finn, McCormack; Ricketts, Twigg
