Villas-Boas denies trying to seeking favour with Chelsea referee complaint

Chelsea manager Andre Villas-Boas claims he is not trying to influence future refereeing decisions by making an official complaint of Phil Dowd’s performance at Old Trafford between Manchester United and Chelsea last weekend.

During the 3-1 defeat for the Blues, it appeared that two of United’s goals were offside. Talking to the Mirror he said: “Nothing is going to change regarding the performance of the referees and I’m not trying to influence decisions, just calling attention to the fact that this situation happened and it played an extremely important part in the result.”

The former Porto man also denied that he has requested not to be officiated by Dowd in the future: “The game should be human, with as many emotions as possible, and I think that the referees have a major part to play.”
