Xavi labels Man Utd as one of Champions League favourites

Barcelona and Spain midfielder Xavi has stated his belief that Manchester United are one of the favorites to lift the Champions League trophy for the 2011-2012 season, when the competition reaches its May finale in Bayern Munich’s Allianz Arena, according to Goal.com.

At the launch of his new ‘Xavi’ branded Adidas football boots, the ingenious Spanish playmaker indicated that although Barca are determined to become the first team to win back-to-back Champions League titles since the competition’s inception in 1993, they are aware of those sides most capable of preventing them from doing so.

“The favourites are the usual suspects. Chelsea will improve under their new coach [Andre Villas-Boas], while Manchester United will be strong and Real Madrid will be challenging because they are always competitive,” said Xavi who was part of the Barca side which destroyed Bate Borisov 5-0 in Belarus last night.
