Sporting are bottom of the League having collected just one point from six games played. Portuguese midfielder Castro, on loan from Porto, was speaking to Marca this week when he revealed his confidence in the team, whilst also lamenting the timing of the international break.
“We’re not yet finding reward for our work during the week. We really wanted to play this weekend because when you are in a situation like ours, you want to change it as soon as possible. We have not been good, but we are very confident in our ability to start winning games.
“We are a tight-knit group and all pull in the same direction. We are sad because we have yet to win, but we know we must remain united in order to achieve results. As always, the atmosphere is good and works well. Typically, we are eager to escape this situation much sooner than later.”
Castro was unable to pinpoint specific areas that the team have fallen short in, but suggested their priority lies at improving home form.
“We have not started right, that is evident. But in the last two games we have improved and [played in a way] much closer to who we are and what we do. We only missed the goal, but above all, with the Racing Santander game, we had many chances.
“Especially at home, which is the key for continuity, as was last year. Teams visited El Molinon suffered and we would beat them.”
