Andy Sandell fires Wycombe parting shot after loan departure

Forest Green loan capture Andy Sandell has fired an extraordinary parting shot at his parent club Wycombe Wanderers after leaving the club on Tuesday.

The 28-year-old was frustrated at being used as a left back rather than in a more advanced position and claimed he had fallen out of love with the game during his time at the Buckinghamshire club.

Sandell started on the left of a three-pronged attack in Forest Green’s 2-0 defeat at Hayes & Yeading last night and told the Stroud News & Journal it has always been his preferred role: “I played up front for Salisbury and scored a few goals, so the opportunity to play up front alongside my best mate Charlie Griffin was a massive draw for me.

“I always give 100 per cent and don’t like losing, but I was fed up with the travelling to Wycombe and playing left-back.

“I had fallen out of love with the game, but I intend to get that love back with Forest Green and enjoy myself again.”

Sandell’s departure came after Wycombe brought in Peterborough left back Grant Basey on a one-month loan deal last Thursday.
