Arsenal injury latest ahead of Stoke clash

Arsenal face a home tie with Stoke City this afternoon and have one additional injury concern following their midweek defeat to Marseille in the Champions League, BBC Sport reports.

Defender Carl Jenkinson limped off with a knee injury and that problem has scuppered his chances of playing against the Potters today. Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has a host of outstanding injuries on his defensive list, including a stomach muscle strain for Kieran Gibbs and an expected return in two weeks for defender Thomas Vermaelen.

The Gunners are riding a wave of three wins in their last three home Premier League fixtures and will expect to put away Stoke today. Wenger’s side currently lie in 11th position and a win will take them into seventh position, unless they can rout Tony Pulis’ men by six goals.

With next weekend’s fixture being the huge London derby against Chelsea, Arsenal will look to win today to give themselves a massive morale boost ahead of the trip.
