Two teams that can’t buy a win meet at Villa Park, in a game that both sides will see as an ideal opportunity to get three points on the board.
Although Aston Villa go into the game unbeaten in all six Premier League ties, that includes just one win, and that was back in august against Blackburn. Since then the Villans have drawn games at home to Wolves and Newcastle, as well as away to newly promoted QPR. It means a positive start to the campaign that sees Villa in eight position.
Wigan meanwhile are on a run of three straight defeats, the most recent of which was a 2-1 home defeat to Tottenham. Roberto Martinez’s side are without star forward Hugo Rodallega with a knee injury, but Emmerson Boyce could return.
Villa meanwhile are without Carlos Cuellar, but do have Darren Bent and Emile Heskey back fit.
