Beckham wants Ferdinand to stay at Man Utd

David Beckham thinks Rio Ferdinand should stay at Manchester United instead of moving to play in the MLS when his contract expires at the end of next season.

The England centre-back has been linked with a move to MLS side Chicago Fire at the end of his contract in 2013.

When asked about the rumours, Beckham admitted that he did not want to comment on it but the United legend said it was in the defender’s best interests to stay at Old Trafford.

He told The Daily Mail: “It’s unfair for me to even comment on a player that’s under contract at Manchester United, loved by the fans. He’s a very good player. That’s the first time I’ve heard those rumours but I’m not even going to comment because he’s a Manchester United player and as a [former] Manchester United player I want him to stay there.”
