Dimitar Berbatov has reiterated a determination to play a more prominent role for Manchester United this season, whilst also indicating he will not reverse his decision to retire from International football, as hoped by a group of Bulgarian fans who attended the Red Devils 2 – 0 win over Otelul Galuti in Bucharest last night, as reported by Sky
Although the joint top scorer in the Premier League last season with 20 goals, having failed to even make the United squad for last Saturday’s 1-1 draw at Liverpool and remaining as an unused substitute against Otelul, Berbatov has started only twice for United this campaign.
However the Bulgarian remains upbeat about his first team prospects at Old Trafford. “I want to get more chances because I know I can help the team. I’ll continue to give my best to earn my place in the team,” said Berbatov, who will concentrate on achieving this before contemplating whether to answer the cries from the Bulgarian fans of again making himself available for international duty.
