Blackpool sign former Newcastle striker Lomana Lua Lua

Blackpool have completed the signing of former Newcastle and Portsmouth striker Lomana Lua Lua on a deal until the end of the season.

The 30-year-old has been on trial with the club for a number of weeks and today finally put to paper on the short-term contract.

Lua Lua had also been linked to ambitious League One side Hartlepool but after being without a club since June following his release by Cypriot side Omonia Nicosia he has plumped for a move to the Tangerines.

He adds further Premier League experience to a strike-force that includes the evergreen Kevin Phillips who has so far notched five goals since his move in the summer.

It remains to be seen whether the Congolese international will go straight into first-team contention with Ian Holloway’s men facing a tricky trip to high-flyers West Ham on Saturday.
