Bottom of the league Bolton welcome forth place Chelsea to the Reebok Stadium in a match that threatens to go according to form.
Owen Coyle’s side have not registered any points since the opening day of the season, when they comprehensively beat Queens Park Rangers 4-0 away from home. They have lost the following five matches, although will take some comfort in the knowledge that the run includes games against Manchester City, Liverpool, Manchester United and Arsenal. Today’s tie ends their run of top of the table clashes.
Chelsea meanwhile have won five of their seven games so far, with the only defeat coming at the hands of Manchester United at Old Trafford, a game where many felt the Blues could have taken a point from. Striker Fernando Torres has begun to score for Chelsea, but his sending off last weekend in the 4-1 win over Swansea means the Spaniard is suspended for today’s tie, with Didier Drogba set to return to the starting line-up, alongside Daniel Sturridge and Juan Mata up-front.
Bolton wait to see if Jussi Jaaskelainen will be fit enough to play after a leg injury, Ivan Klasnic and David Wheater are both suspended, and Stuart Holden is set to miss out with a knee injury. On-loan Gael Kakuta is not eligible to play against his parent club.
Bolton: Bogdan, Steinsson, Boyata, Cahill, Robinson, Gardner, Pratley, Reo-Coker, Petrov, Ngog, K Davies
Chelsea: Cech; Bosingwa, Ivanovic, Terry, Cole; Meireles, Lampard, Ramires; Sturridge, Drogba, Mata
