Bragging rights on the line for Gervinho in Chelsea match

Arsenal forward Gervinho is desperate to beat Chelsea this weekend to earn bragging rights in the Ivory Coast, the Sun reports. Gervinho has impressed in the Premier League since his £10.6m move from French club Lille so far this season.

Chelsea have Ivorian talent in Didier Drogba and Salomon Kalou and Gervinho really wants to win, so he can have a laugh at the expense of his compatriots. Drogba is suspended for today’s clash at Stamford Bridge, but Gervinho confesses that the game against Chelsea is the one he has waited for.

He said: “It will be a pleasure for me to play them. It’s also a pleasure to play at the stadium. Since the start of the season, I’ve waited for this game and I want to win it for me, the team and to tease them a bit more.

Gervinho got his wish courtesy of Robin van Persie’s hat-trick as the Gunners ran out 5-3 winners.
