Bristol Rovers and Oxford charged by FA for fracas

Bristol Rovers and Oxford United have both been charged by the Football Association in relation to an incident in last Saturday’s clash at the Kassam Stadium.

The pair were adjudged to have “failed to ensure their players conducted themselves in an orderly fashion and/or refrained from provocative behaviour” and have until 4pm on the 17th October to respond to the charge.

As well as the reprimand the Pirates were also given an additional £1,000 fine for their behaviour but are yet to comment on the issue.

On the other hand the U’s have hinted that they may challenge the decision with a statement on their official website reading: “After an initial review of video at the match, the club are surprised at the charge. However the club are currently reviewing the full report and video evidence before making any further comment.”

Rovers return to action tonight as they host promotion-chasing Rotherham while Oxford travel to Macclesfield tomorrow.
