Cahill frustration gives Tottenham and Arsenal encouragement

Bolton defender Gary Cahill has vented his frustration with Bolton’s current form, putting Tottenham, Arsenal and Chelsea on red alert, says The Metro.

Both Spurs and the Gunners had bids for the 25-year-old England defender rejected in the summer transfer window, and it is being reported that Chelsea may join their London rivals in mulling over a cut-price bid for the player in January.

With Bolton currently in the Premier League drop-zone, Cahill has voiced his concerns at both his teammates, and his own performances, fuelling speculation that the defender, who is out of contract at the end of the season, could be set for a January move.

“A few of the lads, myself included, need to have a look and question themselves over whether they are doing enough,” said Cahill.

“You can maybe afford to carry one player but you cannot afford to carry a handful and it has been different players in different games. When you are under pressure, there is only so much you can head out and defend.”
