Carroll delighted at Liverpool derby win

Liverpool striker Andy Carroll has revealed his delight at Liverpool’s 2-0 victory in the Merseyside derby, where the £35m signing from Newcastle scored his first Premier League goal for the club.

Goals from Carroll and Luis Suarez were enough to bring the bragging rights back to Anfield, helped in part by the controversial sending off of Everton’s Jack Rodwell in the first-half.

Carroll, 22, told the official Liverpool website his feelings after the game: “Scoring against Everton and beating them at their place is special but you have to keep it going. The dressing room was just buzzing afterwards. Everyone was over the moon.

“We’ve got Man United next game and I’ve got to make sure I keep doing well week in and week out now. We are a new team and we are still gelling together. That’s what we have got to do, stick to the performance that we have produced here and I am sure we will be up there.”

Andy Carroll has also been named in Fabio Capello’s squad for the European Championship qualifier against Montenegro on Friday.
