Cech praises dominnant Chelsea performance

Petr Cech praised Chelsea’s dominant display following their 5-0 dismissal of visiting Genk. Speaking to Sky Sports, the Czech stopper highlighted the Blues mentality as an important factor in producing their impressive performance.

“We knew it was not going to be easy if the mentality was not right and the mentality was brilliant, that’s why we made the game look easy.”

The rout included a brace for the fast improving Fernando Torres and Cech was quick to pay tribute to the Spaniard. “You could see his hunger to be on the pitch and to score goals. It was just unlucky he couldn’t get the third.”

Torres, who has now notched 4 goals in his last 4 appearances, was handed the full 90 minutes as he currently serves a domestic ban and showed encouraging signs which will worry watching Premier League defences. Talking to The Guardian, Andre Villas-Boas noted the importance of the confidence boosting performance: “It was never a question of Fernando not being in form, it’s just important for players to feel confident.”
