Chelsea skipper Terry rejects racism claims

Chelsea captain John Terry says he is saddened by claims that he racially abused QPR’s Anton Ferdinand in Sunday’s 1-0 defeat at Loftus Road.

According to The Independent, videos of the England defender shouting to Ferdinand began to surface on the internet shortly after the match, with some people claiming that Terry had hurled racist abuse at the Hoops defender.

“I’m disappointed that people have leapt to the wrong conclusions about the context of what I was seen to be saying to Anton Ferdinand,” said the Chelsea skipper.

“I have known Anton for a long time and spoke to him about it after the game and there was no problem between us. I would never say such a thing, and I’m saddened that people would think so.”
