Codina believes Getafe will turn things around

Getafe goalkeeper Jordi Codina has reiterated his belief in his teammates to turn around their poor start to the season and start picking up the points he says their performances have merited.

The Madrid-based club are out of the relegation zone on goal difference only, after collecting just one win and one draw from six games played. However, 29-year-old Codina, in his third season at the Coliseum Alfonso Perez, suggests things will get better.

“If we continue like this we will win. We’re not seeing results, but we have played well. We are competitive, but how close games have been is not reflected in the League table. If all goes well though, we will collect more points.

“We’re not overwhelmed. It is true that whilst we are playing and competing we are still not winning, because it is strange. But the team is facing up, competing well, only the game escape us.

“Surely we will play worse and win. This is football.”

Codina has been largely a spectator this season from the bench, but did start the team’s last game – their 3-2 defeat to Malaga at the weekend.
