Coloccini on Liverpool’s radar

Kenny Dalglish and Liverpool are weighing up a January move for Fabricio Coloccini, according to the Daily Mirror. The Argentine defender currently plays for Newcastle United, who have enjoyed an unbeaten start to the Premier League this year.

In the recent past Newcastle have been no strangers to offloading their most prized assets, with Jose Enrique and Andy Carroll making the trip across to Anfield. At 29, Coloccini is an experienced defender and has played at the highest level in Spain for a variety of clubs before moving to England. It is likely however Newcastle will want a handsome fee for Coloccini given their flying start that the former Athletico Madrid and Villarreal man has been a big part of.

Liverpool’s Director of Football Damien Comolli has been scouting Coloccini and is reported to be eyeing him up as a long term replacement for the ageing Jamie Carragher.
