Ferguson against Man Utd players in Olympic squad

Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has told his players that he does not want them taking part in the Olympics, The Sun reports.

United players such as Wayne Rooney, Tom Cleverley, Danny Welbeck and Ryan Giggs are being touted for the Olympic squad for London 2012 and all four have expressed happiness at being rumoured to play. However, their manager is worried that their fitness will deteriorate for the next season thanks to the tournament. Ferguson warned: ‘Players need their rest, they need their pre-season training. They need their recovery and recuperation from small injuries that they get throughout the season. The intensity of the English game is second to none’.
