Ferguson eyes international break to improve trio’s fitness

Sir Alex Ferguson is hopeful that Chris Smalling, Tom Cleverley and Nemanja Vidic can use the current international break so as to regain a level of fitness he deems suitable for them to play in United’s game against Liverpool at Anfield on October 15th, the Daily Mail has revealed.

“The most important thing is the work they do before the internationals finish,” said Ferguson in relation to the upcoming efforts of Vidic, Smalling and Cleverley to not just merely recover from hamstring, groin and foot injuries respectively but also to do so in an overall condition of fitness which will ensure they’re ready to handle the demands playing Liverpool brings.

“You can’t go there with players who are semi-fit or just coming back from injury. You need players who are fully focused and up to speed in terms of fitness and sharpness,” declared Ferguson.
