Gerrard backs Redknapp for England job

Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard has gave his backing to Spurs boss Harry Redknapp to take charge of England when Fabio Capello resigns after Euro 2012, according to the Daily Mail.

There have been calls from both the fans and the media for the FA to point an English manager after the tournament, and Redknapp’s name has been mentioned on a number of occasions.

“There are very good English managers out there,” said the England midfielder. “Harry Redknapp’s name crops up a lot and he’s done an unbelievable job. I don’t think he gets the credit he deserves for what he’s done at Tottenham. There are two or three other candidates along with Harry.

“I don’t see why we have to look abroad if English managers are good enough, and I believe they are.”
