Giggs out of Manchester derby

Manchester United star Ryan Giggs has been ruled out of his side’s clash with Manchester City on Sunday with a hamstring injury, the Daily Mail reports.

Sunday will be the first home match against his side’s city rivals that Giggs will have missed and the 37-year-old is expected to be out of action for about two weeks.

Sir Alex Ferguson is expected to call on Tom Cleverley to replace the veteran midfielder. Cleverley has spent the last six weeks on the sidelines after spraining his ankle in United’s 5-0 victory over Bolton and he underwent three days of intensive solo training whilst his teammates travelled to Romania on Champions League duty.

United are currently two points behind Roberto Mancini’s side who sit at the top of the table and defeat on Sunday would see the Blues open up a five point lead over the Red Devils.
