Gunners target prefers Malaga switch

Real Madrid midfielder Esteban Granero is expected to snub Arsenal’s advances and make a move across Spain to Malaga, according to The Daily Mail.

The Gunners have been strongly linked with a move for the 24 year old and Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger was understood to have been preparing a bid for Granero in the January transfer window. Following the summer departures of Cesc Fabregas and Samir Nasri, Wenger is keen to bolster his midfield and Granero had been established as a perfect target.

However, the Madrid midfielder has reportedly been dazzled by the Qatari riches that Malaga are currently benefiting from and will make the switch in January. Malaga sit sixth in La Liga and are looking to push on into the European places.

Granero had also faced interest from Arsenal’s rivals Tottenham as well, but will snub the Premier League to stay in Spain. The midfielder has only played seven minutes so far this season under Madrid boss Jose Mourinho and is keen for a move to come quickly.
