Jones: Manchester derby just like any other game

Phil Jones is expecting the derby atmosphere to be fantastic, but he and his teammates are treating it as any other game, Sky Sports reports.

The new summer signing has impressed so far in his Manchester United career and has shown versatility that could see him land a starting berth for today’s crunch clash with local rivals Manchester City at Old Trafford.

Many predict that the winner of this contest will have the upperhand in the title race, but the former Blackburn defender has dismissed such claims and believes that it is way too early to judge the title race on one game of football.

Jones said: ‘We are just treating it as another game. All the papers are hyping it up. That’s natural – it’s a derby. But we can’t afford to look at it like that. It’s far too early in the season to start ruling out teams and trying to decide who’s going to win the league.’
