Ledley King’s injury concerns have been allayed slightly after a scan revealed he will be back in action sooner than expected, according to Sky
King had to be substituted after just half an hour in Sunday’s 2-2 draw against Newcastle, but has since found out that he only has a grade one adductor tear.
Harry Redknapp initially feared that King would be out for ‘a while’, but this news has come as a boost as Spurs endure a defensive crisis.
Redknapp’s side have only two fit central defenders ahead of tonight’s Europa League clash with Rubin Kazan, with Younes Kaboul and Sebastian Bassong holding the fort.
Redknapp admitted that the lack of fit centre-backs is a worry: “Central defence is a big problem for us,” Redknapp said, “we are really down to two central defenders. The problem is that we have no one who will be back fit at the weekend so if one of them gets a knock on Thursday, we will be bang in trouble for Sunday’s game against Blackburn.”
