Kuyt eyes Carling Cup for first Liverpool silverware

Liverpool’s Dirk Kuyt is eager for the club to win his first silverware at the club, and insists that the Carling Cup deserves respect, according to The Telegraph.

Kuyt has no winner’s medals to show for in his 6 years at the club, and is on course to be the longest serving player for the club without winning a trophy for 40 years if Liverpool fail to win a trophy this season.

“In all my time as a Liverpool player I have been close to winning trophies,” he said. “There was the Champions League final, the semi-final and coming second in the Premier League. We have been close but it is now time to get some silverware.

“The Carling Cup is being taken very seriously and hopefully we can use the bad taste we have in our mouth because of our frustration in the league and use that in a positive way against Stoke.”
