Levante players receive heroes’ welcome after Villarreal win maintains La Primera’s prime spot

Levante’s team bus was welcomed home by about 500 jubilant fans in the early hours of Monday morning as they returned to Valencia after Sunday evening’s convincing win away to Villarreal.

After recording a 3-0 result against the Yellow Submarine, Los Granotes moved a point clear of Real Madrid at the top of the table. It extends the club’s first ever spell at the top of La Primera by at least another week.

AS report crowds gathered to welcome the team back to city as they did after team’s 1-0 win away at Real Betis. Levante remain undefeated in the League have won all three of their home games and three of their five away games.

Their points tally of 20 after eight games played took the team until February 5 to surpass last season, ironically when they moved to 21 points with an away win at Villarreal again.

The team’s novel approach to preparation and diet continues to draw focus whilst remarkably, it emerged over the weekend that only seven of the first team squad have contracts that run beyond the end of this season.
