Mallorca – Valencia: Mallorca start from scratch against a depleted Valencia side

La Liga Week 8
Saturday October 15, 2011 (17.00 UK)

Iberostar Estadi, Palma de Mallorca

After a tiring match against Granada in which they had to battle it out to secure victory, Valencia’s Sergio Canales believes the international break came at an opportune time so that the players had time to reenergise themselves in preparation for their next away match.

However Unai Emery is unlikely to agree, as it would appear the team have been struck by the FIFA virus. Whilst the Coach can still count on his attacking players, in defence, Emery has had to contend with several absences. It remains to be seen how many of those players who were unable to properly train will take to the field on Saturday.

As for Mallorca, this will be their first match under veteran Coach Joaquin Caparros after losing Miguel Angel Nadal who announced his departure from the club last week. Whilst several players lamented the departure, it came as no surprise considering the internal struggles of the club after Michael Laudrup resigned.
