Roberto Mancini is eager for midfielder Nigel de Jong to sign a new contract.
De Jong’s current contract ends in 2013, but Mancini is keen to extend it and opened talks a year ago.
These talks broke down however as De Jong, who is currently earning £90,000 a week, wanted parity with the club’s highest earners such as Carlos Tevez and Yaya Toure.
