Mancini awarded bumper new deal at Man City

Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini is set to be offered a new four-year contract at the club worth £22m, according to the Sun. The deal will make the Italian the joint highest paid Premier League manager alongside Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson.

Mancini’s new contract takes his salary up to £5.5m a year and is a reward for the work the Italian has performed at Eastlands. Mancini has given the club their first trophy in 35 years with last season’s FA Cup triumph and has also got City into the Champions League, as well as sitting pretty at the top of the Premier League table by five points.

The City boss may have had plenty of money given to him by owner Sheikh Mansour, but Mancini has assembled a squad of quality that has the potential to win another trophy this season.
