Mata backs teammate Torres for Chelsea success

Chelsea’s new midfielder has backed club and international teammate Fernando Torres to regain his form and become one of the most formidable strikers in the Premier League once again. Torres has had a torrid start to life at Stamford Bridge, although his form recently has been more promising.

Goals against Manchester United and Swansea have been a boost for the former Liverpool striker, but a sending off later in that game against Swansea means that his return to form has been interrupted by suspension. Mata believes however that Torres will get back to his brilliant best.

“Fernando Torres has played very well, he has tried but not been rewarded. We are all very happy with him and sure he will soon be back at his best,” Mata told Sky Sports in an interview following Spain’s midweek 2-0 win over the Czech Republic.
