Nadal to decide on Mallorca coaching role this week

Miguel Angel Nadal will decide in the next few days whether to continue with Mallorca, following new Coach Joaquin Caparros’ proposal that he remains on the coaching staff.

Nadal is considering his options as despite Caparros’ intentions, the former Athletic Bilbao Coach, who was unveiled as Michael Laudrup’s replacement this week, has brought in three of his own assistant Coaches, leaving space and opportunity for Nadal more limited than previous.

Another point to consider is Nadal’s relationship with the club. In the wake of Laudrup’s departure, the former Spain international left the board of directors, but keeps hold of a 10% share of the club he maintains with nephew Raphael Nadal.

As part of the restructuring, goalkeeping Coach Miki Garro has been moved to coaching the youth side and fitness Coach Pep Alomar is reportedly likely to leave the club.

Nadal was present at Caparros’ first ‘exhaustive’ double training session with the Mallorca playing staff, as was Lorenzo Serra Ferrer and a number of his backroom staff.
