New Everton contract for Fellaini on the horizon

Everton manager David Moyes believes that midfielder Marouane Fellaini is close to signing a new contract with the club.

Talks between the club officials and Fellaini have been ongoing for several month and the Everton manager believes that they are finally at a positive conclusion. The Belgian midfielder was the club’s record signing following his arrival from Standard Liege in 2008 and has been in excellent form this season since his recovery from an ankle injury picked up last season.

Moyes said: ‘I think it’s very close to getting done. The chairman and the chief exec have been working on it for a while and I’ve been waiting on the good news and hopefully it’s not far away. He has been a really good player for us over the last few seasons and if we can keep him, it will be really good’.

Confidence is high in the Everton camp following a last-gasp victory over Fulham at Craven Cottage and they are hoping to carry their form into their Carling Cup tie with Chelsea on Wednesday night.
